Zee Bangla’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ all set to go global

Following the success of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ on Zee TV, Zee Bangla had started its own version of the programme on Zee Bangla in December 2006, targeting the Bengali audience and with the aim to give budding singers an opportunity to showcase their talent and become the next singing sensation from the Eastern part of India. The programme had in the past given Zee Bangla an edge over other Bengali channels.

Zee Bangla has now launched ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Viswa Shera’ to give a global touch to the music reality show. The programme is scheduled to go on air from June 30, and will be aired Monday to Wednesday at the 9.30 pm slot. ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Viswa Shera’ will have contestants from countries like South Africa, Canada, the Middle East and Bangladesh showcasing their talents. The winner would be adjudged as ‘Viswa Shera’ or one with the best voice in Bengali.

Celebrities like Kumar Sanu, Shantanu Moitra, Runa Laila, Pritam and guests like Bikram Ghosh, Anurag Basu, and Usha Mangeshkar have been roped in to judge the contestants. The episodes would be thematic. Ustaad Rashid Khan and Sunidhi Chauhan have lent their voices to the title score of the programme.

Commenting on the show, Rajib Chatterjee, Business Head & Senior VP, Zee Bangla, said, “It is one of the those great moments for Bangla televison. For the first time ever, a Bangla channel gets truly global on account of this musical extravaganza. We have seen the huge success of Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - Sangeet ka Pratham Wishwayudh’ and learnt how to stand tall and absolutely clear amongst the clutter in the genre with almost every channel doing one these days. However, the platform belongs to the one who did it first.”
