Year end fare on TV: Movies, masti, music - you name it, you have it

In continuing with our series of reports on what different TV channels have on offer as part of their year-end programmes, exchange4media takes a look at what movie and general entertainment channels have lined up to bid adieu to 2006 with a bang.

STAR Movies

STAR Movies will be airing their popular ‘Star Wars’ episode on New Year’s eve. A premiere of ‘Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith’ will start the celebrations on the evening of December 31.

HBO

HBO has planned an action-packed fare for New Year’s eve – ‘Collateral’ starring Tom Cruise, and ‘Spiderman 2’.

Zee Studio

Zee Studio is taking the family route with popular family movie ‘Parent Trap’.

Filmy

Filmy Channel will air ‘Filmy Flashback 2006’, which will feature the biggest box office hits of 2006, along with the best films of the year. There will also be a special mention of the worst movies of the year, besides most popular ‘filmy characters’ in 2006. The show, which will be hosted by Shweta Salve, will also take viewers on a journey of what made news in Bollywood during 2006.

Shailesh Kapoor, Head-Marketing and Content, Filmy, said, “2006 has been an extremely eventful year for Indian cinema. As a part of Filmy’s continuing efforts to showcase the highs and lows of the film industry, the channel will present its take on the year in ‘Filmy Flashback 2006’.”

Where general entertainment channels are concerned, Zee Café will be hosting a Jazz concert on New Year’s eve.

STAR World

On December 31, the ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night’ Awards would represent the pinnacle of achievement for country music artists, musicians, producers, publishers, songwriters, video directors and industry executives who work in America’s most popular music genre. ‘The 40th Annual Country Music Awards’ held in Nashville, Tennessee will feature a wide variety of exceptional talent in the three-hour long event.

Other attractions include the Miss Teen USA contest, Michael Buble’s Caught In The Act’, ‘For the Record - Take That’, a pop music show, and the 2006 34th American Music Awards Live.
