Yash Satellite Industries Pvt Ltd, a three-year-old company with interest in the media business, has started the test signals of its music channel, Yo Music, from Thursday. The channel will be formally launched by the end of January.
“The channel will combine humour with music, with focus on UK-Punjabi and Bollywood songs. Our target audience will consist of a school going boy to a 40-year old person,” said Tarun Jain, MD, Yash Satellite Industries.
The company is aiming an-all India coverage for its music channel within two months. “The channel is now available in Mumbai and North India, and will be expanded to other parts of the country within two months’ time,” Jain said.
The channel is also aiming an early European launch. “We have already tied up with Intelsat for an European launch within 45 days,” he added.
When asked why he became interested in a music channel when the market share of music channels is higher only to the spiritual channels, Jain said, “Music channels are growing at a fast rate. There is huge scope for music channels and the market can easily sustain another 10 music channels.”
Speaking about the other areas of interest of the company, he said, “My next venture will be the launch of Bargain TV through which people can buy and sell products sitting at home. It will be completely interactive television.” He, however, refused to specify any timeframe for the channel.
