What’s-On-India channel spruces up line-up with ‘Whats on my Teevee’

What’s-On-India, one of India’s premiere TV guidance channel, recently launched ‘Whats on my Teevee’ as part of the original programming on the channel. The show focuses on various popular TV stars and celebrities, who talk about their favourite shows on television. The show aims to help in TV guidance as it helps viewers engage with the popular programmes seen by celebrities on television and generates interest for sampling and sustained viewership.

Some of the personalities featured on the show include Ekta Kapoor, Suraj Barjatiya, Udita Goswami, Jay Bhanushali and Parul Chauhan.

Atul Phadnis, Founder, Promoter & CEO of What’s-On-India, said, “‘Whats on my TeeVee’ is another attempt at What’s-On-India to deliver content discovery for our customers through the eyes of celebrities and their television show favourites and preferences. We are very excited about our new offering and hope it will help our viewers in our endeavour of TV guidance and recommendation.”

According to the key insight of What’s-On-India, 70 per cent of the time viewers switch on their television without knowing exactly what to watch. In these 70 per cent of unplanned TV sessions, millions of viewers are in a search-and-find mode in a bid to find interesting programmes to watch. This need is addressed by channels like What’s-On-India, which are constantly presenting viewers with information and recommendations of what TV programmes to watch and where to find them.

It is also learnt that after the launch of ‘Whats on my Teevee’, the TV guidance channel will be working on more such initiatives on original programming.

What’s-On-India Media is said to be India’s largest consumer TV guidance and EPG company. Set up in 2005 by Atul Phadnis, at the inflection point of the Analog Indian TV industry turning Digital, the company was VC funded by Sequoia Capital and Nexus Venture Partners to deliver a series of consumer focused TV guidance media, including India’s first TV guide channel. Clients include all major TV networks and Cable/ DTH/ IPTV operators in India such as Hathway, Airtel Digital, STAR TV, Discovery Networks, UTV Entertainment, Reliance BIG TV, Digicable, DEN, and so on. What’s-On-India channel was launched in November 2009 and became fully operational by the end of 2009. The channel’s target is to reach 20 million homes by the first quarter of 2010.
