Week 43 ratings: Life OK's ratings crash; SAB TV takes the No. 4 spot

Week 43 ratings: Life OK's ratings crash; SAB TV takes the No. 4 spot

Week 43 (October 19-25, 2014) of the Hindi GEC ratings chart saw SAB TV take fourth spot while Life OK suffered a heavy blow, crumbling to the 5th spot. While SAB TV and Sony Entertainment Television saw a rise in their ratings, all other top Hindi GECs saw a decline in ratings.

According to data from TAM subscribers, week 43 saw leader Star Plus lose a little ground as it declined from 601 million GVTs in week 42 (October 12-18, 2014) to 595 million GVTs in week 43. All of its top shows saw a decline in their ratings for the week. Diya Aur Baati Hum, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Yeh Hai Mohabetein and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai declined from 9.1, 8.1, 7.5 and 6.8 TVTs in week 42 to 8.8, 6.9, 6.7 and 6.5 TVTs in week 43 respectively. The Star Box Office India Awards that was telecast on October 19, too failed to pick up the ratings of the channel.

Colors at No.2 spot slumped slightly to 432 million GVTs in week 43 from 436 million GVTs in week 42. Most of its top shows saw a decline in ratings. Comedy Nights with Kapil declined from 6.9 TVTs in week 42 to 6.4 TVTs in week 43. Sasural Simar Ka declined from 6.4 TVTs this week to 5.7 TVTs. Udaan and Balika Vadhu similarly dipped to 6.0 and 4.8 TVTs this week from 5.0 and 4.4 TVTs respectively. Top non-fiction show Bigg Boss Season 8 too hit turbulence, dipping to 4.1 TVTs in week 43 from 4.4 TVTs in week 42.

Zee TV at No.3 spot declined to 394 million GVTs in week 43 from 418 million GVTs in week 42. It faced the same trend, as all its top shows declined marginally. Jodha Akbar, Kumkum Bhagya, Jamai Raja and Qubool Hai declined from 8.1, 7.4, 6.6 and 5.5 last week to 6.7, 6.3, 5.5 and 4.9 respectively. Newly launched show Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale took a slight dip in the ratings from 4.4 TVTs in week 42 to 4.2 TVTs in week 43.

SAB TV, which took the No.4 spot, increased from 276 million GVTs in week 42 to 287 million GVTs in week 43. A few of the top shows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Badi Door Se Aaye Hai saw a slight increase in their ratings during the week. 
 
Life OK lost the most during the week and saw its ratings fall sharply from 302 million GVTs in week 42 to 257 million GVTs in week 43. Its top-rated shows such as Savdhan India, Mahadev and Dare 2 Dance declined from 2.5, 1.8 and 1.6 TVTs last week to 2.1, 1.5 and 1.3 TVTs in week 43 respectively. New shows Comedy Classes and Ajeeb Daastan Hai Ye declined from 1.8 and 1.2 TVTs last week to 1.5 and 1.0 TVTs respectively.

SET finally made a slight comeback after weeks of decline and saw the channel’s ratings rise to 248 million GVTs this week from 228 million GVTs last week. However, according to the ratings, many of its top shows either saw a slight decline or stayed put. Kaun Banega Crorepati and CID lost ground and declined from 3.1 and 2.7 TVTs in week 42 to 2.4 and 2.4 TVTs in week 43 respectively.

Big Magic saw an increase in its ratings this week and increased from 55 million GVTs in week 42 to 59 million GVTs in week 43. This was followed by Rishtey, which made large strides in ratings this week as its ratings rose from 43 million GVTs last week to 56 million GVTs in week 43.

Among the new Hindi GECs, Zindagi made the biggest gains and overtook Sony Pal in the ratings race. The channel ratings increased from 21 million GVTs in week 42 to 27 million GVTs in week 43. Sony Pal too saw its ratings increase marginally from 25 million GVTs in week 42 to 26 million GVTs in week 43.

Finally, Sahara One remained at the bottom with a marginal increase in its ratings from 10 million GVTs in week 42 to 11 million GVTs.
