Vissa TV set to get new look along with parent channel Raj TV from June 5

Vissa TV, the Telugu channel from the Chennai-based Raj Television Network, is on the revamp mode. The channel is set to get a new look along with the parent channel Raj TV from June 5. Besides the makeover, the channel is to introduce a slew of new programmes, including two interactive shows.

Speaking to exchange4media, R Radhakrishnan, Executive Vice President, Vissa TV, said, "As a channel, we have been quite successful in introducing interactive shows, ever since our launch in June 2003. People noticed our channels because of our interactive shows. If you look at the trend in AP and even the South, interactive shows are very popular."

The new interactive shows include 'Jackpot', which will go live from Hungary. Produced by an international production house, the one-hour show is scheduled to air on weekdays between 9 pm and 10 pm. Viewers registering through SMS will be eligible for a lucky draw, based on which they would be called. On answering questions over phone, they will win cash prizes going up to Rs 1 lakh, according to the company spokesperson.

Other shows include 'Chance Le Chance', an interactive on-ground show that will be telecast during weekends starting May 21. The channel intends to cover all major towns in Andhra Pradesh, with 250 to 300 people invited to an auditorium in each of these towns through in-channel promos, print ads and other BTL activities. 15 to 20 teams grouped from this audience will then participate in team events. This show produced by Vinod Bala, is to be anchored by Udaya Bhanu, and surprise visit by the anchor to residences and commercial complexes in these towns is also being planned.

Previous interactive shows on the channel include 'Vaadam Prathi Vaadam' hosted by Dasari Narayana Rao and 'Badram Koduku'.

The channel is also set to replicate another successful trend in Tamil satellite channels - Bruce Lee and his friends will start speaking Telugu on Vissa with dubbed martial art movies. This is to go on air on Sunday morning, starting June 11.

Other new shows planned by the channel include 'Paadaala Telugu Paatta'. This musical talent show to identify and promote new talents in lyric writing and play back singing is to be anchored by play back singer Nithya Santhoshini. When new programming is the agenda, can soaps be far behind? 'Gharshana' will be a daily feature starring artists from Telugu film industry and produced by Vinod Bala, and is scheduled for telecast from last week of June, said the spokesperson.
