Vijay TV toes STAR’s line, to launch ‘Jodi No 1’ from October 7

Envisaged on the same lines as ‘Nach Baliye’, Vijay TV is gearing up to launch ‘Jodi No 1’. The Tamil satellite channel has already roped in as many as eight couples – four real life couples and four reel life couples – in order to add glamour and colour to the show. ‘Jodi No 1’ would be launched on October 7 and will be aired on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm.

The channel plans to telecast both reality and studio version of the show. Reality episodes would capture the candid moments while the studio episodes would reveal the performance episodes on the set where the celebrity couples showcase their dancing prowess in front of the judges.

The introductory episode would be an elimination round where all the pairs would perform. Each pair would be assisted by a professional choreographer. And there would be a wild card round in the seventh episode, which would provide an opportunity to one of the eliminated couples to be in the fray again. The wildcard winner would compete with the final shortlisted couples for the title.

Ravinath Menon, General Manager, Vijay Television Pvt Ltd, said, “This would be a landmark in the history of Tamil television. It is going to change the way media looks at television stars. Like ‘Airtel Super Singer’, we would push the envelope every time we come with a new show. ‘Jodi No 1’ is going to revolutionise Tamil general entertainment television.”

The real life couples to be featured in the show include Devadarshini and Chetan, Rashna and Vijay Adhiraj, Latha Rao and Rajkamal, Preetha and Raghav.

The reel life couples to be featured in the show include Shilpa and Bharat Kalyan, Kutty Pooja and Prem, Pooja and Rishi, Tharika and Deepak.
