Vijay TV on the lookout for the next Prabhu Deva in Tamil Nadu

Vijay TV’s romance with reality show continues. After hitting the jackpot with shows like ‘Hutch Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru’ and ‘Airtel Super Singer’, Vijay TV is ready with yet another reality show titled ‘Amul Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva’. The new show will scout for Tamil Nadu’s next Prabhu Deva, dancer extraordinaire.

The show would provide a platform for people in the 16-35 age group to showcase their dancing prowess, which will be judged by Prabhu Deva himself. The ace dancer and choreographer is considered as India’s answer to Michael Jackson and has choreographed over 100 movies in many Indian languages, including Bollywood.

Amul has been roped in as the title sponsor of the show. Speaking on Amul’s association with the show, J Rajan, General Manager, Amul, Chennai, said, “Amul has been advertising more in national media. This year, we have decided to focus on Tamil Nadu. We want to replicate the stupendous success of ‘Amul Star Voice of India’. Amul’s brand equity and iconic status of Prabhu Deva would be channeled through Vijay TV to bring out the talent of the youth in the state.”

Vijay TV will conduct auditions in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy for the new dance show. The selected contestants from each zone would then be put through several competitive rounds in various styles of ‘desi’ and international dance forms and the winner would be adjudged by Deva himself.

Speaking on the launch of ‘Amul Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva’, K Sriram, Head, Vijay TV, said, “There have been dance competitions on Tamil television before, but UYAP is a notch above the rest as its endorsed by the greatest dancer of our times, Prabhu Deva. This show would for sure redefine prime time viewership in the state.”

The new show, which will hit the airwaves in August, will be on air every Thursday and Friday between 9 pm and 10 pm. The show will also have a marketing push across all media – print, outdoor, radio and television.
