Vijay TV launches weekday comedy programming

Vijay TV is due to launch a string of comedy weeklies, which will commence at 9 pm across the week from Monday to Thursday from July 19. The channel has roped in some popular names in the comedy industry to anchor these shows.

Kovai Sarala the popular comedian of the big screen is scheduled to make her first television appearance. ‘Sakkalakala Sarala’, the show hosted by Kovai Sarala is a mono-act comedy, interlaced with popular comedy movie scenes. This show will be on air from July 22 onwards every Thursday at 9 pm. ‘Idhu Eppadi Irukku’ is a standup comedy that ridicules the histrionics and filmi “ishtyles”. The show is a mockery on how emotion is depicted by different stars over the ages and presents the illogical and supposedly serious clips in a comic fashion interlaced with film clips. Bosskey, a popular television comedian and stand up artist, hosts this show. This would be aired every Monday at 9 pm from July 19.

‘Kadavul Pathee Mirugam Pathee’ is an innovative film review based on humour with impersonations of angel, the devil and the mortal film buff acting as the moderator between the two. The show is backed with a humorous script, high impact animation/VFX and impersonated by Nandoo, a popular television host and theatre personality. This is aired every Tuesday at 9 pm. ‘Lollu Sabha’ the re-enactment of some of the popular scenes from films will be aired on Wednesdays at 9 pm. The ‘Lollu Sabha’ Team includes Santhanam of Sagalai Vs Ragalai fame along with Swaminathan, Manohar and Uday.

Vijay TV continues its experimentation with different programming formats and genres and the new launches are expected to be the start of a revamp.
