Vijay TV garners 51.1% share in TN with Titanic in Tamil

The blockbuster movie, James Cameron’s Oscar winning, Titanic aired in Tamil, on Sunday, 29th February at 11:30 am has delivered record audience shares for Vijay. Nineteen brands were associated with the movie when it was aired.

Suresh Iyer, Head of Programming, Vijay said, “We put in a lot of efforts to ensure that viewers had a memorable time watching Titanic in Tamil. The high quality dubbing ensured that movie viewing experience remained intact. We have more of such blockbusters lined up for the year ahead”

Ajay Vidyasagar, GM, Vijay Television said, “Our belief in offering differentiated and quality content to Tamil homes is working well. Epics like Titanic are timeless and will attract eyeballs. It has delivered a rating of 19.8 in Chennai. These are indications that consumption habits are undergoing a change. This is just the beginning, you will see more such performances from Vijay.”

The movie was aired on Sunday, 29th February at 11:30 am. Nineteen brands were associated with the movie when it was aired on Vijay.

According to the communication received from Vijay TV, in Chennai Titanic garnered 66.2% share with a TVR of 19.8 (11:30 – 16:00 hrs, among C&S ABC 4+) while Sun TV got a share of 13.5%, Raj TV got 2.9%, Jaya TV got 2.0% and KTV got 3.9%. In Chennai Titanic had the highest reach of 43.1 (11:30 – 16:00 hrs, among C&S ABC 4+). Across Tamil Nadu Titanic got a share of 51.1% with a rating of 15.3 TVRs and a reach of 31.4 (11:30 – 16:00 hrs, among C&S 4+) while Sun TV got 21.8%, Raj TV got 2.9%, Jaya TV got 2.7% and KTV got 7.7%.

With Titanic delivering the goods, Vijay is looking forward to the year ahead with many more exciting programmes and movies on the anvil. In the recent weeks the channel has launched new shows which include the game show Vai Raja Vai, aired on weekends and the daily election special programme Makkal Yaar Pakkam, which Vijay TV claims, are getting a lot of attention.
