Telugu news channel, V6News initiated its test launch on March 9, 2012.The channel will be telecasted all across Andhra Pradesh.
“The Telugu community is very vibrant and dynamic. The scope of V6News is large as the Telugu news genre has almost 12 crore viewers. Our aim is to produce clean and authentic news that will positively impact the audience,” said Ravi Ankam, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, V6News.
Talking further about the target audience and distribution he said, “V6News brings in unbiased news in the most receptive formats and aims at delivering value to its viewers. It is going to be youth-oriented as well. The distribution tie-ups with leading Multi System Operators (MSOs), Hathway, Wire and Wireless, InCable, Digital and other independent players are in place and that will help the channel reach out to every household.”
The investment for V6News has come from independent equity players including Dr Rajender Reddy, a prominent cardio surgeon from USA and Gusti Nohri, promoter of Nomark Fashions, among others.
Sharing more about the distribution and promotion strategy, Aditya Someshwar, Sales and Marketing Head, V6News said “The distribution cost is always very high but once the MSOs come with the set-top boxes, the cost will go down and it will bring in transparency. The promotion activity will be carried all across Andhra Pradesh in the form of print, outdoor, etc.”
He added, “Launch of V6News at this juncture of politically silent atmosphere is seen by many as refreshing. The quality of editorial team along with the independent investment is expected to alter the news media landscape for Telugu news viewers.” Talking about the feasibility of a Telugu news channel, he stated that this will be a viable proposition as regional channels draw more revenues in comparison with national channels.
