Union Budget 2017 spurs viewership of Hindi business news channels 91%: BARC @ Week 5
The Union Budget 2017 kept audiences glued to the television screens on Wednesday (February 1), which spurred the viewership of Hindi business channels 91 per cent while that of English news channels by 45 per cent, according to data released by television ratings agency BARC in Week 5. Meanwhile, English business channels witnessed viewership grow 5.5 times to 595 impressions’000s as against 109 impressions 000s in the previous four week average to know what the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has proposed for the year ahead.
NDTV 24x7 saw its viewership grow three times on the telecast of its interview with Akhilesh Yadav ahead of the UP elections. The channel’s viewership on Monday (20:33-20:55) when the interview was run recorded 1.1 impressions 000s as against its previous four week average of 0.3 impressions 000s, according to BARC data.
Meanwhile, the finals of the 18th Grand Slam where Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal telecast on Sony Six (SD+HD) improved the channel’s viewership more than six times to 395 impressions 000s from its previous four week average of 64 impressions 000s.
The telecast of Miss Universe 2016 on Zee Café boosted the channel’s viewership four times on Monday (January 30) to 14.7 impressions 000s from the previous four week average of 3.6 impressions 000s.
