Triveni Media, a subsidiary of the Rs 3,000-crore Triveni Group, is all geared for the D-Day. The company, according to informed sources, is expected to come up with its first channel by mid-January 2008 and has got clearance of six licences recently from the I&B Ministry.
The licences are for four regional channels in Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and for the NCR. Triveni Media has also received licences for a luxury and lifestyle channel.
Triveni has very recently roped in Ravi Shankar, former Managing Editor of India Today, as Managing Editor, Lifestyle.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Triveni Media has plans to launch a bouquet of 18 channels, of which 17 would be regional channels in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
“We are in the construction mode at the moment and have received the licences recently. We are trying to get things at the right places so that we can start the channels as soon as possible,” said Rahul Kulshreshtha, CEO, Triveni Media.
