Times Television Network ropes in Nupur Mahajan

Times Television Network has brought Nupur Mahajan on board its branded content arm as Head, Content Strategy. She will lead the creative arm for the Network.

Mahajan is part of the core leadership team at TTN’s branded content division. She is at present working towards building a strong team. Placement firms working on her brief though are tight-lipped. Word is that this arm will function akin to a creative cell in an agency. However, this will be a coming together of creative and strategic planning with a view to offering bespoke brand solutions.

Content Strategy will be the key unit of the branded content division, ideating on client briefs to create solutions that straddle activation and content, with a mandate to engage brands meaningfully and strengthen client relations.

She has years of experience as a journalist and editor across print, television and radio, armed with roles straddling brand building and strategic planning.

Mahajan has been a former columnist with the Times Group, and now returns after a decade. A bright spark, she was hired full time by The Times of India even as she pursued her masters at Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, Pune. She then joined Bombay Times, where she created a visible mark, and was handpicked by Peter Mukerjea to be part of Star News core team.

Star News was breaking away from NDTV with the ideology of creating a Hindi news channel for the English mindset. Mahajan was part of the key team that gave birth to, and later navigated the channel through infancy. In due course, she returned to the Times fold – this time as among the youngest editors in the Group as Editor, Downtown Plus.

She moved out of Times again, now at the behest of Anuradha Mahindra, and went on to help Mahindra reposition and build brand salience around its magazines, Verve and Man’s World. This she did even as she straddled radio for ABC National, Australia.

Mahajan then moved to a consulting role. On one hand, she consulted with Business India Group, and on the other, fed her creative streak by ideating and bringing to life some of the most visible intellectual properties in sport for Beyond Boundaries.

Her fundamental strength of marrying creativity with strategy and coming up with sellable ideas saw her consult with Prasoon Joshi and McCann Worldgroup, from where she joins Times Television Network. 

Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
