TG Angles Pvt Ltd, which is into real estate, infrastructure and IT, is foraying into media with its proposed news channel Azad News. Being launched by TG Angles Media, the channel is slated for launch by August this year. The group is owned by M S Walia.
Distribution wise Azad News would focus on North India in its initial phase and later on move to other parts of the country. The channel would be initially available in Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the NCR and parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Contentwise the channel would focus on the common man’s perspective. The channel, which has the tagline ‘Sabse Aage Sabse Pahle’, claims that the content would be more interactive, user friendly, and sans sensationalisation of news. The packaging of the programmes would be different and glossy.
Amit Kasaria, Channel Head, Azad News, said, “When a new news channel is launched, there is this mindset that bombardment of channels are being done. I would like to make it clear that with the increase in population, demand for such channels is imminent. There would be demand for more software, technology and operations. We welcome this competition and are confident about facing the challenges.”
Kasaria, who is in charge of the entire channel operations, was earlier with Zee Network in programme production for two years. He said that 80 per cent of the recruitment had been done. “Negotiations are on, but it is too early to name anyone,” he added.
