Tata Sky Ltd, the JV between Tata Group and STAR, has crossed the one-million connections mark in its first year of operations. The company has launched an advertising campaign to mark the completion of first year of its operations. Tata Sky was launched on August 8, 2006.
Vikram Kaushik, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Sky Ltd, said, “Tata Sky has achieved significant success in its first year of operations. The one-million connection mark in a short span of 12 months vindicates our commitment to transform the way people watch television in India. We expect our subscriber growth to accelerate in the future and cross the eight-million mark in the next five years.”
He further said that Tata Sky had launched an advertising campaign on the occasion of its first anniversary for a scheme that offered subscribers one million minutes of free viewing if they registered with Tata Sky before September 30, 2007. The campaign sports the old tagline “Jisne is ko lagaya, toh life jhinghalaya”.
Rediffusion DY&R has done the campaign, which talks about satisfied consumer experience. The campaign has already broken in print in all major newspapers and few business magazines. The TVC will break in all news and entertainment channels in the coming week. Hoardings have already been put up at key locations in Delhi and Mumbai. Moreover, there are also a lot of on-ground activities in malls across Delhi to demonstrate how a DTH service works.
Said Kaushik, “We will be launching personal video recorder (PVR) service for Tata Sky subscribers soon. We have just launched recharging vouchers through web recently. We will also be providing recharging of vouchers through SMS.”
