Suvarna to air Kannada television’s first mythological, ‘Shivaleelamrutha’

Kannada entertainment channel Suvarna is set to present Kannada television’s first ever-mythological serial – ‘Shivaleelamrutha’. The epic will feature legendary stories of Lord Shiva like Skandapurana and Shivapurana, and showcase events such as Shivakalyana (marriage of Lord Shiva), Parvathi Kalyana, demolitions of Daksha Yagna, end of the demon Tarakasura by their son Kumaraswamy and other miracles of Lord Shiva. ‘Shivaleelamrutha’ will premiere on June 9 and would be aired at 9-9.30 pm on weekdays.

The daily serial has been created with high quality production values for visual effects. Though produced for the small screen, ‘Shivaleelamrutha’ boasts of the best technical facilities in film making to enable the viewer enjoy the grandeur of Lord Shiva.

Commenting on the new serial, Sanjay Prabhu, COO, Suvarna, said, “Our continual effort has been to bring ‘24 carat Manoranjane’ to every Kannadiga household. We’ve brought the very popular talent show ‘Star Singer’ and historical series ‘Sangolli Rayanna’, now we bring Kannada television’s first ever mythological series.”

Director of the serial, Sunil Puranik said, “I’m very happy to be part of the first ever mythological series in Kannada TV. We’ve put in a lot of work to create ‘Shivaleelamrutha’ and the serial will definitely manifest people’s faith in the Lord.”

Gurudutt, VP-Programming, Suvarna, said, “Kannadigas today are a very discerning audience. We are persistently endeavouring to bring in programmes and innovations that strike their interest. Mythological serials are an untouched segment in Kannada television and we’ll be the first to break into this.”

Soon after the launch of Suvarna, the channel had brought Kannada television’s first-ever historical chronicle ‘Sangolli Rayanna’, which is being aired during prime time on weekdays. The serial brought much popularity for Sunil Puranik, who is now the name behind ‘Shivaleelamrutha’. Puranik has directed the mythological series with well-known dancer and actor Sanjay Shantharam essaying the role of Lord Shiva. Bhavyashree Rai and Shama Sanjay play other lead characters.


Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
