The two rival channels – Surya and Asianet, are on a race to capture the youth. While Surya is ready with Kiran TV, a channel solely dedicated to live entertainment and movies, Asianet isn’t far behind, churning out the best strategy to launch the proposed 24-hour music channel.
“Surya has launched Kiran TV on Sunday and to pull the viewers by showcasing new movies. We aired Malayalam film Chaturangam, starring Mohan Lal, at prime time,” said Sateesh Kumar, Assistant Marketing Manager. Incidentally, the channel is also planning on tapping the youth through the music programmes. The channel launch is being advertised through print as well as hoardings, said Kumar.
Interestingly, as per sources, Asianet is also planning to launch a music channel before March.
