Star Plus’ new property Star Plus Dopahar launched on April 3 with its four new shows and was trending on Twitter under the hashtag Star Plus Dopahar. It fetched in 1.3k tweets on Twitter and 73 posts on Instagram at the last count, according to the research firm Meltwater. Sentiments were mostly neutral constituting 49.34 per cent while positive constituted 45.13 per cent.
Like all other channels, Star Plus started a live Facebook conversation for its viewers with the actors yesterday morning.
The new property launched with shows ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh, Piyaji’ (sequel of popular show ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’), ‘Kya Kasoor Hai Amla Ka?’ (Indian adaptation of popular Turkish show ‘Fatmagul’), ‘Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee’ and ‘Dhhai Kilo Prem.’ These will run between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm.
Star Plus’ significant investment on original differentiated content is indicative of the production houses it has roped in namely, Sandip Sickand and Balaji Telefilms, Shashi and Sumeet Mittal, Ved Raj and Dheeraj Sarna, Purnendu Shekhar, Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura.
The Hindi GEC is looking to strengthen its positioning in the afternoon timeslot and expand its viewers’ base with the launch of original programming in this slot as it believes there is a sizeable audience for this time slot.
Incidentally, Star Plus has been leading the BARC charts in the urban GEC market for the last couple of weeks. According to BARC data for week 12 (March 18–24), the channel dominated the urban market with 484 million impressions.
