Star Plus to bring out ‘Voice of India’ through new show

Reality shows have certainly caught on with general entertainment channels, and musical talent shows have proved to be a hit with them. Cashing in on this opportunity, Star Plus has now taken the endeavour to bring to fore the voice of India by way of a show ‘Star Voice of India-Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa.’ The show will go on air in mid-May.

The show will be aired towards the weekend and will be telecasted two days a week. It is going to run for six months.

‘Star Voice of India-Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa’ has been conceptualised by television’s man of music Gajendrra Siingh, and is produced by Saibaba Telefilms. Siingh will also direct the show. Singer Shaan will host the show.

‘Star Voice of India’ elevates the concept of talent hunts and reality television to a whole new level with its unique and innovative format. The selected singers from each audition city will get the opportunity to perform live in their respective cities at exciting ground events even before the show goes on air. After an exhaustive round of auditions and performances, 30 finalists will come together for a chance to compete to become the ‘Star Voice of India’.

Announcing the launch of the new show, Harsh Rohatgi, General Manager, Marketing and Content, STAR India Private Ltd, said, “It’s a date with destiny — not just for the contestants, but for our viewers as well. Star Voice of India comes packed with unimaginable talent, melodious voices, and a visionary director — the combination is truly a winner.”

Siingh said, “Music is our passion and has always been. We have always endeavoured to do something with music since we are very involved with this concept. Talent scouting is our forte. Our focus has always been to tap talent, and with Star Voice of India, we are here to do that once again. The differentiation in this cluttered space is the music and the participants. Besides best production values, we are also trying to bring in a new and interesting format to make the show a success. With backing from a channel like Star Plus, we are confident that we will touch greater heights.”

The auditions are going to start from April 29 in Kolkata, followed by Mumbai, Indore, Delhi, Jaipur and Lucknow subsequently. Musicians Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Aadesh Shrivastava, Jatin and Lalit Pandit will form the esteemed panel of judges.

The selection of the winner will depend on 50 per cent judges’ decision and 50 per cent through public votes via SMS. The winner will win Rs 20 lakhs.
