Star Plus continues to lead urban markets; Star Utsav replaces Sony Pal to be No.1 in rural markets

In week 21 (21-27 May, 2016), in the urban Hindi Speaking Markets, Star Plus remained at no.1 for the second consecutive week and Colors stayed at No.2. Sony Pal stepped up to the seventh spot pushing &TV to the eighth spot. As far as the Hindi GEC rural ratings are concerned, Star Utsav replaced previous week’s top channel, Star Utsav to acquire the No.1 spot. Star Plus climbed a step up to the sixth spot replacing Colors. Also, Big Magic stepped up to the eighth spot in week 21.

Detailed report below:

Hindi GEC Urban:

Star Plus continued to be the most watched channel for the second consecutive week. The channel fetched 429 million ratings which were 431 million in week 20.

Colors stayed at No.2 with increased ratings of 428 million ratings which were 414 million in the previous week.

Zee TV remained at No.3 but experienced a dip in the ratings from 315 million in week 20 to 291 million in week 21.

Life OK, at No.4, fetched 270 million ratings. The channel had 283 million ratings in week 20.

Sony SAB remained at No.5 with 240 million ratings which were 264 million in the previous week.

Sony Entertainment Television, at No.6, got 233 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 216 million.

Sony Pal stepped up to no.7 in week 20 replacing &TV. The channel which had 113 million ratings in week 20 fetched 121 million ratings in week 21.

&TV slipped to the eighth spot as it lost some eyeballs and hence ratings from 127 million in week 20 to 109 million in week 21.

The ninth spot was acquired by Star Utsav with 108 million ratings. The channel was at No.10 in week 20 with 94 million ratings.

Zee Anmol slipped to the tenth spot from ninth in week 21 as it saw dip in ratings from 98 million to 91 million in week 21.

Hindi GEC Rural:

Star Utsav replaced previous week’s top channel, Star Utsav to acquire the No.1 spot in week 21. The channel garnered 369 million ratings which were 364 million in week 20.

Sony Pal slipped to the second spot in week 21 as it experienced a dip in the ratings from 382 million in week 20 to 344 million in week 21.

Zee Anmol, however, remained at No.3 but with decreased ratings of 320 million which were 352 million in week 20.

Zee TV stayed at No.4 with 232 million ratings. The channel had 267 million ratings in week 20.

Rishtey too held on to its previous week’s spot of No.5 although, it lost in terms of ratings from 261 million to 228 million in week 21.

Star Plus climbed a step up to the sixth spot with 219 million ratings which were 215 million in the previous week.

Colors slipped to the seventh spot as it saw a fall in the ratings from 221 million in week 20 to 216 million in week 21.

Big Magic stepped up to the eighth spot in week 21 with similar ratings like the week before of 157 million.

Life OK slipped to the ninth spot as it saw a dip in ratings from 160 million in week 20 to 154 million in week 21.

Sony SAB remained at No.10 with 104 million ratings which were 107 million in week 20.
