Star One to launch virtual reality game show ‘Games Bond’

STAR One is all set to launch a virtual reality game show ‘Games Bond’. The channel’s officials explained that the show will be in the 8.00 pm slot on Fridays. The weekly will hit the tube around mid-June. As a STAR One original concept, this show is another attempt from the channel on differential programming.

Ravi Menon, Sr VP, Content, Star One, said, “It has always been our attempt to bring out something unique in most of our shows. Games Bond is also one such show. The young population is taking interest in video gaming and doing that as teams. We have used this as the base for the show.”

This 13-episode show will have eight teams compete with each other, until there is a final winner. The first season would be on the theme of military combat. Rahul Dev would be the anchor of the show. The show would be followed by ‘Bluff Master’ at 9.00 pm and the ‘Laughter Challenge’ at 10.00 pm. The teenage show ‘Happy Go Lucky’ would precede the show at 7.00 pm.

“Since Happy Go Lucky is also a teenage show, we expect it to also benefit with this new show. This is a very bold concept and so far, with most of our shows, STAR One is perhaps the only channel that has exhibited that it can take on a differentiated show and execute it as the upscale, urban audience wants it,” said Menon.

The teaser campaign around the show has begun. Full-fledged marketing activities begin early next week. The show, given its nature and the kind of audience it addresses, will be very selective in its marketing.

With Laughter Challenge and now this show, there is quite a lot that STAR One audience can look out for during this month.
