Star One plans another game show

After the success of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge which found a place among the top 50 television shows last month, Star One is all set to launch yet another game show, Super Sale, which would be on the lines of the international game show, Sale of the Century.

Anchored by showman, Sajid Khan, this show would feature three contestants who would challenge each other over different rounds of the game, wherein the anchor would put forward a series of questions enabling the winner to buy consumer durables, furniture and holidays at rock bottom prices. A washing machine worth Rs 20,000 for instance, can be bought only for Rs 20 in the show.

The show, which will go on air from August 15, has been positioned at the 7.30 pm time slot between Monday and Friday. Speaking to Business Line, on the sidelines of a press meet, Mr Ravi Menon, Head of Programming, Star One, said that the 7.30 to 8 pm time slot didn't have any quality shows and the channel has tried to address the gap. "This time slot is vulnerable for attack and conquering," he said.

Talking about the channel's future programming strategy, Mr Menon said that it would be a blend of game shows and fictions and that the next launch could be a fiction.

The game show is supposedly targeted at viewers between the age group of 17 and 35, and Mr Menon said that the channel hopes that the show would be on air for a long period and not be restricted to limited episodes.
