Star Movies bullish about 'Experience Hollywood'

Star Movies as a part of its new programming initiatives is introducing a new package 'Experience Hollywood' from this month. The channel is launching Star Wars 3 as a part of this package. The excitement kicks off with a special double bill of Star Wars movies - Star Wars episode 1, the Phantom Menace & Star wars Episode 2, the Attack of the Clones and never before seen footage of Star Wars episode 3 - The Revenge of the Sixth.

In addition, a grand on-air contest will also enable one viewer to go to Japan to watch the movie's premiere with the cast and crew. 100 lucky viewers in each of seven top Indian cities will also be invited to the premieres in those cities. This will be the first in the line of "Experience Hollywood" properties. It will be followed by similar activity with the biggest Hollywood blockbusters releasing in India.

Die Another Day, Pirates of the Caribbean, Minority Report, Elizabeth and Notting Hill are some of the biggest blockbusters being aired after 9 pm on the channel.

What kind of interest levels is Star Movies expecting from the entire package? Said Ajay Vidyasagar, Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Communications) of the channel, "Getting to view exclusive footage from a movie even before its theatrical release is a huge draw for a movie buff. And the interest levels of Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sixth are unprecedented across the globe. This is the conclusion of the most beloved film saga of all time. We have already been overwhelmed by the response that we have got from this activity. "Experience Hollywood" brings the Hollywood experience home to the viewer, and therefore is not just about exclusive footage, even though that is a big draw."

Vidyasagar added, "The twin episodes are being showcased on Friday at 6.25 pm and 9 pm. One simple question is asked. Viewers can sms JEDI to 7827, and take part in the contest. We believe that contests are a potent medium for viewers to interact with Star Movies."

"Summer blockbusters is an attempt to reward loyal viewers with 31 days of exceptionally high quality titles. The key point is that all these titles are airing at 11 pm. Only we have a library with such great strength that we can air great titles at 9 pm and again blockbusters at 11 pm and that too, every day of the month, " said Vidyasagar.

He further said, "Star Movies brings Hollywood home to the viewer like no one can. And it's for more reasons than one. We not only showcase the best and the biggest titles, and on many occasions, we premiere them just once a while after they have released theatrically in India or just a while after they are still in the news."
