STAR Movies bags exclusive telecast rights for the Red Carpet at Oscars

At STAR Movies the Oscar fever has reached a higher altitude. The channel has bagged the exclusive rights for the Red Carpet at the Oscars. Not only will the channel telecast the show, but VJ Yudi will also host the show rubbing shoulders with the biggest celebrities of Hollywood. It will be followed by the live and exclusive telecast of the awards. The channel also has the exclusive telecast rights for the event till 2010. Ajay Vidyasagar, Sr. Vice President, Marketing and PR, Star India, said, "We too were surprised when we received this news. As Oscars is the most coveted event in the history of film making everywhere and for somebody in India to have the Red Carpet Live coverage, it's a kind of privilege. STAR Movies is the only station ever in Asia to get this kind of a right. We have got the ability to do this and not even the biggest of the networks in the US have managed to get rights for the Asian coverage."

The channel has 'Oscar fever' running all month, where an Oscar nominated movie plays everyday after the 9.00 pm movie. STAR Movies is also selling its Oscar-related programming at a premium. "All this comes as a part of industry recognition and just goes to show the kind of clout the Hollywood industry bestows on us," Vidyasagar added.

The Red Carpet ceremony telecasts on STAR Movies on February 28 at 6.00am followed by the 77th Annual Academy Awards.

STAR spokesperson explains that the complete channel has been given the Oscar feel. The spokesperson of the channel says, "Everything has been given the Oscar look and feel. The prime objective of this all is that we are giving our viewers a complete Hollywood experience and this is a part of this."
