STAR India launches mobile audio entertainment service STAR 7827 Voice

Led by the burgeoning demand for popular mobile content, STAR has announced the launch of mobile audio entertainment called ‘STAR 7827 Voice’. The unique radio-like voice service will offer popular TV and movie content in an easy to access and consumer-friendly format with mobile jockeys presenting fresh and popular content every time consumers make a call.

Based on advanced IVR technology, STAR 7827 Voice will provide mobile, and eventually fixed line users access to daily ‘audiosodes’ of dramas and other popular content from STAR's bouquet of channels. The service will also provide jokes, contests, spiritual messages and a special range of ring tones and ring back tones.

Speaking at the launch of STAR 7827 Voice, Viren Popli, Senior Vice-President, STAR Interactive, said, "There is a ready demand for popular TV content and interactivity on the go. STAR 7827 Voice is a platform for the non-SMS, non English-speaking viewers of our channels to enable them to keep up and interact with our channels and get updates about their favourite shows.”

Popli added, “STAR 7827 Voice will provide consumers with a brand new experience and medium to enjoy exclusive content like daily audiosodes of popular TV programmes like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’, ‘Bhabhi’, ‘Virasaat’, TV and movie dialogues, devotional theme-based content like Yatra, and live updates of cricket scores.”

The service will be available to BSNL subscribers and Hutch, Spice (Karnataka and Punjab) will follow thereafter. In the near future, the service will be rolled out to all leading service providers. The announcement of STAR 7827 Voice comes within two months of the launch of the STAR 7827 web and wap site. STAR 7827 Voice will be fully integrated into STAR channels, thereby increasing the channels' interactivity.
