StanChart Mumbai Marathon to go live on Zee TV

Zee TV will telecast the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2005 live on January 16 at 7:30 am onwards. The channel has bagged the telecast rights for the marathon for the next five years.

Speaking on the occasion, Abhijit Saxena, Business Head, Zee TV, said, “The spirit of The Mumbai Marathon has captured the minds of the public across the nation. Zee TV has always set the ball rolling for others to follow – be it with family soaps (Tara and Banegi Apni Baat) or with Talent Hunts (India’s Best Cinestar ki Khoj). For Zee TV, which is synonymous with mass entertainment, the telecast rights is yet another feather in its cap.”

The channel is confident that it will be able to yet again show the common man his true self – no matter whether running for a cause or for his own beliefs. All become irrelevant as everyone – from an Olympian to a world-ranked athlete to your neighbour – all are united and running for the prize money. It is a true expression of a human being’s everyday life, something that is not new but definitely unique to Zee TV.

With such gusto, the entire country will witness the commencement and the climax of the run. From the channel’s perspective, the idea is to live up to the expectations of its viewers. The magnitude of the run is in itself enough for it to be the most sought after show on television.

In its second year now, the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon in the inaugural year, had 25,000 people participating with the likes of Anil Ambani, Rahul Bose, Bipasha Basu, Kajol, Tanisha, Kapil Dev, Perizaad Zorabian, Tara Sharma, Mandira Bedi, Geet Sethi among others running for the cause.

Zee TV is not only the media partner for the event, but also a participant. Zee stars like Mihir Mishra and Kushal Punjabi (Kabhie Haan Kabhie Naa), Asish Nair (Tumhari Disha), Imran Khan and Akshay Anand (Chi and Me) will be running the race. Other stars like Kulraj Randhawa (Kareena Karena), Chavi Mittal (Tumhari Disha), and Nupur (Reth) will be seen at the event cheering for the cause.
