SPN acquires TV and digital rights of Aircel Chennai Open 2017

Aircel Chennai Open, one of India’s oldest and most prestigious international sporting tournaments, has signed up with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) as the official broadcast partner for its upcoming edition, starting on January 2, 2017 at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam. The tournament, which is into its 22nd year, will be broadcast live on SPN’s premier sports channels, Sony SIX Sony, SIX HD as well as the SonyLIV app and website. 

Aircel Chennai Open will add to the existing strong line-up of tennis programming on the sports cluster of SPN, which already includes the Australian Open, ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, ATP World Tour 500 events and the prestigious season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. SPN’s broadcast of premium tennis events firmly reinforces its focus on tennis, one of the most followed sports in the world and tennis fans in India can now look forward to the world’s top ranked players in men’s professional tennis on tour. 

The tournament this year promises to be a bigger and better affair with top of the line players, including World No. 6 Marin Cilic (Croatia), Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain), Borna Coric (Croatia), Tommy Robredo (Spain) and Mikhail Youzhny (Russia) going head to head. Indian players on the roster include Leander Paes, Rohan Bopanna, Saketh Myreni and Ramkumar Ramanathan.

Aircel Chennai Open will be telecast 5pm onwards from January 2 to 8, 2017 on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD and can also be streamed live on SonyLIV app and website.
