Sony Entertainment appoints Kapil Dev as its brand ambassador

Kapil Dev has been appointed brand ambassador for the Sony Entertainment Television and MAX network for a period of three years. This follows Sony’s acquisition of the rights for the live telecast of the ICC Cricket tournaments, including the two World Cups for a price of $255 million.

Kapil Dev will represent and promote the MAX and Sony association with the ICC Cricket tournaments starting with the ICC Champions Trophy in September, 2002, followed by the World Cup in February, 2003.

Commenting on his appointment Kapil Dev said that he would work with Sony to increase viewer involvement and interactivity to make it the most entertaining World Cup coverage ever. According to Sony, Kapil Dev will be consulted to provide programming innovations for the coverage.
