SET clocks $84m revenues, expects profit this year

Sony Entertainment Television India (SET India ) has clocked revenues of $84 million in 2001-02 and is expecting to be profitable during the current financial year.

Besides SET, a part of the Japanese conglomerate Sony, is in a restructuring mode in India as a precursor to an initial public offer (IPO), which may come some time in the second half of 2003. The company is expecting the new programmes to be a major contributor to its success.

According to sources, the goal for Sony Discovery Pvt Ltd, the distribution joint venture between SET and Discovery, is to up the subscription revenues so that 25 per cent of the total revenues of SET come from subscription.
