Senior Group plans to launch Delhi-centric Hindi news channel by February-end

Senior Group of Companies, which is in the real estate business, which had announced its plan in the latter half of last year to start a Hindi news channel, is now looking for a February-end launch. The 24-hour S1 will be a city-centric channel.

Top-level appointments have been made by the group. Kalpana Dixit will be the Managing Director and Dayal Das will be CEO. Mukesh will be Deputy News Head for S1; he was previously the News Head for Sahara Samay, MP. Names for the Editor’s post are still under consideration.

How will the channel be different from other Hindi news channels? Said Vijay Dixit, Chairman, Senior Group, “The focus of the national news channels is to cover national news. But our focus will be to cover the city extensively and bring the news from every lane in the NCR.”

The channel will cover everything about the city including traffic, railways, airports and crime in the city. Dixit, said, “We will cover the city with infrastructure of the kind that any national news channel is equipped with. There will be complete coverage of all the news around the city on our channel.”

The promotional campaign for the channel, with an estimated budget of Rs 5-7 crore for the first year, will start by January-end.
