Sambad Pratidin hosts Viewers Choice Award for Bengali TV shows; Zee Bangla bags 15 awards
Sambad Pratidin, a leading Bengali daily, organised Viewers Choice Award for Bengali Television programmes, which was held on Saturday (May 7) at the Science City Auditorium Kolkata.
Zee Bangla, the leading Bengali entertainment channel, walked away with fifteen awards.
J K Roy, Business Head, Zee Bangla, said, "It is great to walk home with the maximum number of viewers choice awards. The readers were involved in the nominating process and they were asked to poll from the entire programme list and finally the nominations were announced in the newspaper for the final poll.
Those who attended the award ceremony included senior TV and film personalities like Sandip Ray, Prabhat Roy, Debasree Roy, Tanusree Shanker, Mamata Shanker and Sabitri Chattopadhyay.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Lifetime Award that was given to Jochan Dastidar (posthumus), the pioneer of Bengali TV serials and the founder of Sonex TV Productions. The award was received by his daughter Kheyali Ghosh Dastidar, a national award winning actress.
Apart from Zee Bangla, thirteen awards were won by Akash Bangla, two by ETV and two by Tara Bangla .The award for the Best Live Televised Show went to Alpha Gaurav. The award for Best Mega Serial Director went to Ravi Ojha for Ek Akasher Niche (Zee Bangla ).
Lakhi Chana (Akash Bangla) was named Best Children's programme, while Best Telefilm was Sumitra On line (Tara Bangla). Best Newsreader award went to Aditi Ray of Akash Bangla, Best News-based programme award went to KhojKhabar (Akash Bangla) and the Best Game Show award was won jointly by Zee Bangla for HaoMao Khao and ETV for Rojgere ginni .
A special award was given to 'Mithudi' by veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee for her outsanding contribution to the glamour world.
Pratikrit Sengupta, Manager, Brand Management for Sambad Pratidin, said, "Television has become an important medium and Bengali TV channels play an important role. The main idea behind organising such an event was to give recognition to Bengali TV channels and their softwares."
