Samaya TV to change hands; Kasthuri TV plans new channel

The market is abuzz with the news that Kannada news channel Samaya 24x7, which was launched in June 2010, is changing ownership. The channel is the brainchild of industrialist and politician Satish Jarakihole. It is learnt from sources close to the development that the channel is being bought by politician HD Kumaraswamy.

It is not known if Samaya 24x7 will undergo a name change too when it changes ownership, but it is learnt that the news channel will be revamped after the takeover.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that Kasthuri TV, the GEC owned by HD Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha, will soon be entering the Kannada news space. The 24-hour news channel will be launched by the end of April 2011.
