SAB TV joins hands with SET for distribution

Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network Limited (SABTNL) – the house of SAB TV and SET Satellite (Singapore) Pte Ltd – the owner of Sony Entertainment Television and Max, have entered into a strategic deal, through which SET gets the exclusive option to distribute SAB TV as part of the OneAlliance bouquet and acquire an equity stake in the broadcasting subsidiary of SABTNL. The valuation and percentage of the equity stake will be decided shortly by both the parties.

SABTNL is a pioneer television software company in Indian Television Industry. The group started operations in the mid-‘80s when television was first commercialised in India through Doordarshan. It is the only production house, boasting a huge software library of 6,000 hours.

However, the company started its full-fledged 24-hour Hindi general entertainment channel SAB TV in April 2000. The channel expanded operations in the entire UK and parts of Europe in September 2003. The company has set up its own terrestrial channel in UK. SABTNL is also providing quality primetime content to major TV centres in the US and the Gulf. SAB TV has, however, carved a niche for itself as a humour-based channel, catering mostly to SEC A and B segments.
