SAB banks on fiction to beef up 10PM-11PM slot

SAB TV is bringing in two new shows – ‘Hum Aapke Hain In laws’ and ‘Tota weds Maina’ – to strengthen its 10-11PM time slot. Both the shows, which be launched on January 14, 2013, are weekday fiction based shows in the comedy genre.

‘Hum Aapke Hain In laws’ will face competition from ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara’ on Star Plus, ‘Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada’ on Sony Entertainment Television, ‘Uttaran’ on Colors, ‘Mrs Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein’ on Zee TV and ‘Saubhagyavati Bhava’ on Life Ok.

On the launch of the new show, Anooj Kapoor, EVP and Business Head, SAB TV said, “SAB has always propagated that ‘Asli maaza SAB ke saath aata hai’ and we emphasise on the importance of togetherness; our launch of the year, ‘Hum Aapke Hain In Laws’, is a perfect reinforcement of our beliefs.  This show is an endearing tale of the Grover family; it brings back the joys of togetherness and beautifully depicts the endearing bond between a couple and their in-laws.”

‘Tota weds Maina’ will compete shows such as ‘Veera’ on Star Plus, ‘Bade Ache Lagte Hain’ on Sony Entertainment Television, ‘Parichay: Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka’ on Colors, ‘Punar Vivaah: Zindagi Milegi Dobara’ on Zee TV and ‘Savdhan India’ on Life Ok.

According to Kapoor, ‘Tota aur maina’ is the first launch of the year which will be a young rom-com that the whole family can relate to. This show in particular will concentrate on the diverse cultural elements of Uttar Pradesh.

‘Hum Aapke Hain In laws’ is a cheerful and light hearted comedy that traces the journey of Gulshan Grover and Damini along with that of Gulshan’s in-laws who happen to be a blessing as well as a nightmare by the sheer power of being his neighbours. The show ‘Tota weds Maina’ depicts some of the funny elements of Tota and Maina and their dysfunctional family as they go about facing day to day challenges in humorous ways.
