Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Qubool Hai ratings pull Star and Zee down

Week 10 (March 1 – 7, 2015) of the Hindi GEC universe had Sab TV witness the highest increase in ratings. Colors, Life OK and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) too saw an increase in ratings this week. On the other hand, Star Plus and Zee TV saw a decline in ratings. &TV, the newly launched Hindi GEC, in its first week, got off to a good start compared with other Hindi GECs such as Star One, Imagine,  Zee Anmol, Zindagi, Sony Pal and Epic channel in their first week of their launch.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers, Star Plus in week 10 saw its ratings fall to 604 million GVTs from 638 million GVTs in week 9. One of the main reasons for this was the large decline of the channel’s top rated show Saath Nibhana Saathiya which fell to 8.7 TVTs in week 10 from 11.2 TVTs in week 9. Diya Aur Baati Hum too declined to 9.4 TVTs this week from 10 TVTs last week. Also on the decline this week were shows such as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Suhani Si Ek Ladki, Nisha Aur Uske Cousins and Master Chef which fell to 2.4, 4.6, 4.0 and 3.2 TVTs in week 10 from 2.5, 5.4, 4.4 and 3.5 TVTs in week 9 respectively. Newly launched show Tere Sheher Mein got 2.6 TVTs.   

Zee TV’s ratings declined in week 10 to 427 million GVTs from 442 million GVTs in week 9. A large majority of the shows during the week saw a decline. Qubool Hai saw the biggest fall among them as it declined to 5.7 TVTs in week 10 from 7.2 TVTs in week 9. Other shows on the decline include Service Wali Bahu, Bandhan, Hello Pratibha, Jodha Akbar, Satrangi Sasural and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs which slipped to 1.5, 1.8, 1.7, 4.7, 5.2 and 4.6 TVTs in week 10 from 1.6, 2.0, 2.3, 5.1 and 4.7 TVTs respectively in week 9. Shows that however saw an increase include Jamai Raja, Kumkum Bhagya, Doli Armanon Ki and Neeli Chatri Wale which increased to 6.1, 9.4, 4.2 and 4.5 TVTs in week 10 from 6.0, 9.0, 3.6 and 4.1 TVTs in week 9 respectively.

Colors, on the other hand, saw a rise in ratings to 424 million GVTs this week from 419 million GVTs in the previous week. The most notable increase in ratings was from Comedy Nights with Kapil which increased considerably to 5.8 TVTs in week 10 from 4.8 TVTs in week 9. The channel also rose on the back of good ratings from new launched show Swaragini its first week. The show which was launched on March 2nd brought in ratings of 5.3 TVTs. Balika Vadhu and Code Red saw marginal increase in their ratings this week to 5.5 and 2.4 TVTs from 5.1 and 2.1 TVTs last week respectively. New show Farah Ki Dawat in its second week however fell to 2.1 TVTs this week from 3.1 TVTs last week. Similarly, Sasural Simar Ka saw a large decline this week to 7.6 TVTs from 8.2 TVTs in week 9. Other shows either saw ratings take a small decline or stayed the same since last week.

Like OK saw a marginal increase in week 10 to 314 million GVTs from 312 million GVTs in week 9. This was just enough to keep it at fourth position on the table. Most of the shows saw a marginal decline in their ratings while others stayed the same. Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali, Mahakumbh, Laut Aao Trisha, Comedy Classes and Shapath declined marginally to 1.0, 1.9, 0.7, 2.9 and 2.3 TVTs in week 10 from 1.3, 2.3, 0.8, 3.0 and 2.4 TVTs in week 9 respectively. Savdhaan India on the other hand increased to 3.3 TVTs in week 10 from 3.0 TVTs in week 9.  

Sab TV saw a large increase in its ratings this week to 312 million GVTs from 265 million GVTs in week 9. The channel saw the large rise on the back of the Holi special show Sab Ka Rangotsav 2015 aired on Saturday, March 7th at 9pm. The special event telecasts the celebration of Holi by various celebrities of the channel. Most of the other shows saw their ratings stay the same as in the previous week. Chidiya Ghar saw a small decline to 2.9 TVTs this week from 3.0 TVTs last week, while Badi Door Se Aaye Hai increased to 2.3 TVTs this week from 2.1 TVTs last week.  

SET too saw an increase during the week and rose to 247 million GVTs in week 10 from 235 million GVTs in week 9. Most of the shows saw a marginal decline in week 10. This included Muh Boli Shaadi, Tum Aise Hi Rehna, Hum Hai Na, Maharana Pratap, CID, Crime Patrol and Adaalat which declined to 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, 2.0, 3.8, 2.6 and 1.9 TVTs in week 10 from 0.7, 0.9, 0.9, 2.5, 4.0, 2.8 and 2.0 TVTs in week 9 respectively. Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar and Bhanwar increased marginally to 2.1 and 1.5 TVTs in week 10 from 2.0 and 1.3 TVTs in week 9 respectively.     

&TV, which was launched on March 2, brought in top ratings of 90.6 million GVTs in its first week. The first week ratings of the channel’s shows are as follows – Razia Sultan 0.6 TVTs, Bhagya Lakshmi 0.6 TVTs, Gangaa 1.3 TVTs, India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun Hai 0.9 TVTs, Begu Sarai 0.7 TVTs, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Pe Hai 0.8 TVTs, Killer Karaoke 1.0 TVTs and Tujhse Naaraz Nahi Zindagi 0.4 TVTs
