RIL to simulcast integrated live feed of results on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter

Reliance Industries (RIL) has managed to become first global company to simulcast an integrated LIVE feed on Facebook, YouTube and Periscope, the world's largest social platforms.

The test signal of the feed was seen on the verified Facebook page of RIL President and Media Director Umesh Upadhyay, the company's Twitter feed called @FlameOfTruth and its YouTube landing, @flameoftruth2014.

In its first quarter results for FY 2016-17 that will be finalised and declared today, July 15, one of  India’s largest companies  will be simulcasting its CFO Alok Agarwal’s analysis from a single axis.

To serve its 2.3 million followers on Facebook, the company added an FB stream in January 2016, when Agarwal held forth on its third quarter results.

This was a first time that India Inc leveraged Facebook's then nascent LIVE video product to reach its audiences.

In April 2016, RIL added Periscope to communicate its fourth quarter results. Now that Periscope has been acquired by Twitter, the stream will be simulcast on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, another first.

In its April 2016 simulcast, RIL used three independent cameras, one for each medium. Since an on-air talent can face only one camera at a time, the other two would get side shots. To fix this anomaly, RIL embedded backend technologies so that all three platforms could be captured from a single source, yet another first.

“We are where the sophisticated consumer of media and stakeholders are, spread across different geographies and time zones ” an RIL official confirmed, requesting not to be named. A promo announcing this LIVE feed has already attracted 4.14 lakh reach, 1.03 lakh views, 2.3 thousand likes on Facebook alone.
