Reliance Info to aid TV channels

Reliance Infocomm said it has started offering live telecast facilities for television channels in its webworld outlet here, in a move the company said would help news channels reduce spendings on outdoor broadcasting vans.

“Many TV channels already use the video conferencing rooms at (select) webworld stores to telecast live interviews using the digital electronic news gathering (Deng) network. Now Reliance Infocomm is in a position to offer live telecast facilities from 85 cities, including Lucknow,” a company statement said here.

Infocomm said the Deng allows TV cameras to be connected to encoders at Reliance webworlds and signals travel on Reliance Infocomm’s terabit optical fibre cable (OFC) network to the TV studio, where the picture is received through decoders and uplinked.

“The entire process happens in real-time,” the statement said.

The content is secure as it is trasmitted securely over Reliance’s fibre optic network, using encryption and decryption technology, it added.
