It appears that notices and orders are becoming a regular affair with Colors. Following the notifications from the I&B Ministry and a notice sent earlier by TV Vision, the Indian Motion Pictures Production Association (IMPAA), too, has sent a notice to the channel over the participation of Raju Srivastava as a housemate in ‘Bigg Boss - 3’. At the core of the issue is TV Vision’s concern that Srivastava, who has been signed as the brand ambassador and mascot of its forthcoming Hindi entertainment channel Mastiii, would not be able to fulfil the commitments that he has made towards this channel.
As per the contract that was signed on July 29, 2009, effective November 1, 2009, Raju Srivastava has to give 10 days to the Mastiii team. The stand-up comedian has been roped in as the brand ambassador and mascot for the channel. The notice issued is a warning stating that if Srivastava is not available to the channel beginning November, it would be considered a breach of contract.
TV Vision had sent a notice to this effect to Srivastava and to Colors as well as the production house Endemol. IMPPA’s notice to the trio reiterates these facts and is demanding Srivastava’s eviction from the show before November 1, 2009.
Speaking on the matter, TV Vision’s Markand Adhikari said, “We are investing significantly in our forthcoming Hindi channel Mastiii, and we are very concerned that this commitment of Raju Srivastava with Colors for ‘Bigg Boss’ will interfere with Mastiii’s progress and will cost us, both financially and in meeting our target deadlines. Our only interest in the matter is that the commitment made to us by Raju Srivastava should be honoured.”
The IMPPA notice has been sent to CINTAA, TV Vision, Colors and Endemol India. The Workers Federation has been involved in the matter.
