Rajdeep Sardesai completes 25 years in journalism

“Today a spl day: complete 25 years in journalism! For better or worse, has been a memorable journey! Many people to thank” – thus tweeted Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, IBN18 Network on November 1, 2013.

One of the most well-known and respected names in television journalism today, Sardesai incidentally started his career in the same year that Sachin Tendulkar burst into the cricketing field.

Talking exclusively to exchange4media on his journey so far, Sardesai said, “I can only say that it’s been a privilege to have had such a wonderful ringside view to India over the last 25 years, and I am eternally grateful to my colleagues at The Times of India, NDTV and Network 18 for their friendship and guidance.”

Reminiscing about the early days, Sagarika Ghose, colleague and Deputy Editor and prime time anchor, CNN-IBN said, “We were class mates in college and then went on become colleagues in journalism. I can say that he is a complete newsaholic and is addicted to news. He is a thoroughly professional editor. I have been with him in his entire journalism journey and have seen him grow into one of the most respected figures in Indian media. Rajdeep’s popularity arises from his credibility and integrity.”

Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7 said, “I have worked with many editors in my life, but Rajdeep is one of the few editors with whom you can differ violently. One can fight, argue and share his point of view at the same time with this Editor without fearing for his job. He listens to you and agrees with you on certain points. Apart from being a prominent journalist and Editor, Rajdeep is also a very good human being.”
