Raj TV goes all out to celebrate Rajnikant's birthday, bonanza time for fans

He is the South's most loved superstar, every release of his is eagerly awaited, and his on-screen mannerisms copied by all and sundry. Needless to say his birthday on December 12 is an occasion that countless fans are looking forward to. Tamil channels are gearing up to make this day an occasion to beat all occasions.

Raj TV has announced its fare for the special day, and throughout the monthm by way of its Friday Blockbuster slot being dedicated to the veteran actor in December.

Among the movies of the living legend to be screened through the month are 'Pudhu Kavidhai', 'Sri Raghavendhirar', 'Annamalai' and 'Siva', besides the superhit 'Dharmathin Thalaivan', which is scheduled for December 12.

Sharing the fare for millions of fans of the superstar, B Shankar, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales, Raj TV, said, "We continue to work closely with the film fraternity in conceptualising special events and programmes and creating memorable occasions. Rajni Sir's birthday is a huge occasion for millions of his fans across the world. We are celebrating it through the month, and also with a special show that will give the audiences a peep into his past."

The show will feature a Raj TV team in Bangalore speaking to his long time friend Raja Bather (who is said to have been the driver of the bus that Rajnikant served as a conductor on), besides some other friends and members of his family in Bangalore.

The steady flow of special interviews on big occasions will continue between 9.30 pm and 10.00 pm, followed by a comedy show featuring scenes from the actor's films. SMS contests on 5270 on his career, with 250 winners getting to win DVD / VCD players will be another aspect to the day's programming.

While Head & Shoulders (title) and Zingaro will be part of the brands associated with the special programming, Shankar summed up the significance of the star in the market, with this comment: "Rajnikant is the most powerful brand of Tamil Nadu. We are so glad to be putting this together."

The promos start from November 21, and a print and outdoor campaign is on the cards. David is the creative agency for the channel.
