Raj TV, dubbed the ‘people’s channel’, celebrated its 15th anniversary on July 18 in Mumbai, with its new avatar and format. The channel has lined up a variety of shows and programmes targeting kids, women and the family band. These shows are expected to go on air in mid-August.
Though Suresh Iyer, CEO, Raj Television Network, is tightlipped about these forthcoming shows, he did reveal, “We are going to have fundamental changes in terms of content, programme ambience and aesthetics, and programme host/hostesses. We are going to pitch in top singers, Hollywood movies, innovative reality shows, and interactive shows to different sets of advertisers with different rates. Our focus is shifting to programme-specific marketing. We will be doing a lot of BTL activities as well.”
When asked about plans for new channels, Iyer said, “We have just launched Raj News. There no plans to come up with another new channel. We already have five channels – Raj TV, Raj Digital Plus, Raj News, music channel Raj Musix, and Telugu channel Vissa TV. Our focus is to add value to whatever we have and going in for revamps to cater to more and more viewers.”
M Regunathan, Director, Raj Television Network, “We are available through all possible DTH platforms, and very soon we will be available on Tata Sky. In Mumbai, we are available through cable.”
By mid-August, there would be a whole new look of programming structure. On weekdays from 11 am to 1 pm, Raj TV has planned to schedule interactive shows for women on beauty, health, body care, etc. For kids, there would be original animated shows and game shows between 5 pm and 7 pm. Kids can also enjoy kiddie flicks on Saturdays.
For the family band, Raj TV has lined up some reality shows and a mythological show, which will be aired on weekdays from 7 pm onwards. The channel has also acquired rights to some Hollywood movies, which would be dubbed in Tamil and aired on Sundays.
