Raj TV’s game show ‘Kaasu Mazhai’ to go on air from October

Another Tamil game show is all set to hit the airwaves this October, this time on Raj TV. Called ‘Kaasu Mazhai’ (Money Shower), the show has been produced by Raj TV and will be aired Monday to Thursday, in the 9.30-10.30 pm slot. The show will be hosted by popular Tamil actress Sangeetha.

Elaborating on the new game show, Raju Eswaran, COO, Raj TV, said, “‘Kaasu Mazhai’ would be an exhilarating money shower experience. It is not a matter of luck, but how intelligent you are.”

Asked about target audience, Eswaran said, “Whoever has the spark to win money will be our target audience cutting across all segments. More than Rs 1 lakh will be up for grabs everyday.”

In the show, the host would interact with the callers through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Airtel subscribers can call 600602 and answer three questions asked by the host to qualify for the second round. The subscribers of other service providers like Hutch, BSNL, Idea and Reliance can SMS to the above this number and answer one question. Raj TV would randomly select few people from those who have answered correctly. The selected few would then go through another four rounds of general knowledge and current affairs questions and the finalists would be selected and put into a transparent cubicle where currency notes of different denominations would be showered and whatever one grabs belongs to him/her. The winners would be allowed to stay inside the cubicle for 30 seconds.

The programme is being promoted aggressively through press, hoardings, road shows and Interactive Voice Response System.

The channel is also planning to run open trucks across Tamil Nadu with a special functional replica of currency shower booth. Wrapper, leaflets and coupons of the board will replace currency. People who grab the lucky coupons would get the sample product and direct entry to the game show. The entire mobile currency / coupon shower booth will have an in-built web cam. The channel also plans to telecast interesting snippets from the mobile vans everyday during prime time.

Meanwhile, Sun TV also has a similar show called ‘Thanga Vettai’ (Gold Hunt), anchored by popular Tamil actress Ramya Krishnan.

Jaya TV had also announced its live game show recently with actress Meena as anchor. The channel already has a successful show in ‘Jack Pot’, hosted by another actress, Khushboo. Vijay TV’s game shows, ‘Vasool Rani’ and ‘Q3 Jeyyam Grand Master’ are also on air.
