Raj TV’s event inititatives continue, latest in line includes singer S P Balasubramanyam

Musical events are the flavour of the season on Tamil entertainment channels. Raj TV is sticking relentlessly to the event route, this time by partnering a show featuring South India’s favourite male playback singer, S P Balasubramanyam. The charity show, scheduled for Friday, will be telecast at a later date on the channel.

Said B Shankar, Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Raj TV, “We are glad to be associated with an event like this for two reasons. Firstly, it is for a noble cause, and secondly, it will showcase one of the best singers of our times in a full-fledged exclusive concert.”

Held in the aid of Sivashakti Homes, the concert will feature S P Balasubramanyam rendering 18 songs in a row with Shrutilaya Orchestra. He will also sing his famed ‘Shankarabharanam’ on stage, a first for the veteran singer.

The initial part of the show will be for the release of a song written by President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, on Sivashakti Homes, which houses mentally challenged men, women and the orphaned. Set to tune by composer Vidyasagar, the song will be performed before the audience before the concert begins.

Another highlight of the show will be a documentary by National Award winning filmmaker Balu Mahendra on the home. The 20-minute offering will be premiered at the show and will also be telecast on Raj TV along with the event. The date of telecast has not been decided on yet.

Hong Kong-based Questnet International is the presenting sponsor of the event.
