Raj TV’s deal with Neo sports pays rich dividends

MS Dhoni might have bagged the Man of the Series award in the recently concluded India versus Bangladesh ODI series. But it is Raj TV that has recorded the most impressive scores during the series. The Tamil satellite channel’s deal with Neo Sports for live broadcasting of language feeds of the cricket series has surprisingly put on board an impressive 86.7 per cent GRP for the channel in Tamil Nadu, while figures for Vissa in Andhra Pradesh market stood at 432.8 per cent (both C&S 4+), according to aMap.

“This is the first initiative and it has paid rich dividends. We will now continue aggressively on the same growth path. People of Tamil Nadu can look forward to more such offering from us,” said Raju Easwaran, COO-Creative, Raj TV.

Meanwhile, Subramanian Iyer, National Head-Sales and Marketing, Raj TV, said that the channel would continue its endeavour to crack more sporting events, and other general interest shows and programmes would constantly create excitement among viewers. “We would be looking at more such tie-ups in the future, especially cricket and other games that would cut across language, cultural and regional barriers,” he added.

Subramanian added that the live telecast of the celebration of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Kaurnanidhi’s 50-year tenure as legislator spiked Raj TV’s ratings.

“We are currently doing our rounds of get-togethers with most of the advertising agencies and clients in each of the four important markets like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. This is more to thank them personally for all the support and trust they have bestowed upon us during our weaker times,” Subramanian said, and added that the situation was changing favourably for Raj TV.

Raj TV’s tie-up with DISH TV is in the finalisation stage, and Subramanian said that the tie-up with all the major MSOs in advanced talks. He also added that June would see another round of exciting proposition from the channel when the Mudalvan Award would be presented. The award is Raj TV’s property where the channel felicitates the first rank holders of both 10th and 12th class students from every district of Tamil Nadu.
