Raj Nayak Chief Executive Officer, Hindi Mass Entertainment at Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd won the title of this much awaited award in its very first year.
With his visionary leadership, vital insight and astute business acumen, Nayak has made COLORS a name synonymous with Hindi General Entertainment in India.
He has provided vital insight and impetus to consolidate the brand’s position as an influential player in the GEC space.
Known to be extremely astute and savvy, Nayak began his career with Tata Economic Consultancy Services and has since worked in various capacities both in the print & electronic media for over two decades now.
He joined the STAR TV as Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing where he spent 10 years and was responsible for strategizing, packaging and marketing of all the STAR TV channels and for the group’s advertising revenue.
In 2002 he joined NDTV Media Limited as CEO & a minority stakeholder in the company and helped set up the company. His entrepreneurial ability soon led him to set up his own independent entrepreneurial venture AIDEM Ventures Pvt. Ltd as Founder and Managing Director.
Nayak made his transition to Colors – Viacom18 in 2011 from AIDEM Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
He was also recently appointed as the CEO and Business Head of Viacom 18’s newly launched 24 hour Hindi Movie Channel called Rishtey CINEPLEX.
His business acumen is marked by an eye for creative content that aids high revenue generation to strengthen the bottom-line effortlessly.
A complete people’s person who leads from the front, Nayak is a risk taker and quick decision maker.
Today he is one of the most highly regarded thought leaders in the advertising, marketing and media circles in India.
A strong believer that it is content that differentiates one TV channel from another, he has led Colors from being a strong challenger to a leader, who challenges not only the status quo in its space, but has also come to be known for taking risks with fiction show 24, which was industry first.
Big ticket reality shows such as Bigg Boss, Jhalak Dikla Jha, India’s Got Talent have also played a vital role in making the channel a household name.
Under the able Captainship of Nayak Colors has today built for itself a niche, where it is associated with big ticket reality shows and high profile one-off events, in addition to its regular programming.
