PROMAX&BDA announce first group of winners on Indian soil

The two days of ‘PROMAX&BDA 2004’ culminated with the grand announcement of PROMAX&BDA India 2004 winners. The ceremony was hosted by MTV’s Cyrus Baroacha and the evening was a fair mix of the announcement of the winners and continual cheering from different sections of the audience. Each category had a gold and a silver winner. SET MAX walked out with the highest number of gold, followed by the STAR Network. Turner India, MTV India, NGC India and Sony Entertainment television and TV Today are the other winners.

SET MAX won nine gold, one silver and the Best of Show award, which was presented by Steve Grieder of PROMAX. Some of the categories in which it nabbed the laurel are Best Out-of-House Station image promo for its entry on ‘Do Deewane’, Best Sports Promo for ‘Wings of Fire’, Best Movie Promo for ‘Devdas’, Best Sales and marketing presentation for ‘Deewana Bana De’ and Best Multimedia Campaign, again for ‘Do Deewane’. The channel got the silver for the ‘Something for Nothing’ category for its entry, Rolling Stones.

STAR India has to its credit again nine gold and eight silver awards. STAR News and Channel V from the network largely won the gold awards. Where categories like Best Promotional Campaign, Best Interactive Promo and Something for Nothing got the gold for the music channel, the category Best News/Current Affairs promo got the award for the news channel.

The silver awards came in categories like Best Entertainment Promo, Best Programme Title Sequence and Best On-Air Promo, the latter two won the network two gold awards as well.

Turner India won four gold and seven silver awards. Categories like Best in-house Station promo for its entry, What is POGO and Children’s Programme logo. The silver awards came in the categories of Best Promotional Campaign and Best Editing in a promo.

National Geographic India scored three golds and one silver. The categories of Best Infotainment promo and Best Documentary promo gave the channel its gold awards and the silver in Best Launch Campaign for its entry, The Legends are Back.

MTV India got four gold and six silver. The Best Entertainment promo category and the Funniest Spot category got it the gold, while Best In-House Station Image promo and Best Comedy promo fetched silver awards. Amongst other channels, Sony got two gold for ‘Kkusum’ and ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’ and three silver awards. TV Today got one gold for the category of Best Print Ad and two silver awards. Discovery got three and ESPN and Lowe got themselves one silver each.
