Promax BDA Asia 2006: SET, STAR shine as TV channels dominate the Awards

The Promax BDA Asia Awards 2006 have been dominated by TV channels this year, with Sony Entertainment Television and STAR India leading the tally. While SET bagged five Golds and 10 Silvers, STAR India bagged six Golds and three Silvers. Filmy, Sahara One Network’s Hindi movie channel and Toon Disney India won two Golds each while Zee Telefilms bagged one Gold.

SET India got Golds for SET Max’s Best Out-Of-House Station Image Promo for ‘Parakeet’, Best Special Event Promo for ICC Super Series, SAB’s ‘Lo Kal-Lo Baat’ (You Gotta be Kidding) won Best Entertainment/Variety Promo, Best Entertainment / Variety Campaign and Best Sound Design.

For STAR the awards include Star Movies’ Robomania for Best Movie Campaign (Gold), STAR One’s ‘Nach Baliye’ for Best Reality Campaign (Gold), and Channel [v] India’s [v] Guns and Roses for Best On-air Identity and Best In House Station Image Promo (Golds).

The three silver come for Channel [v] India – Freedom Express for Best Editing, Channel [v] India – Now or Never Contest for Best Interactive Promo, and STAR One – Mano Ya Na Mano for Best Programme Title Sequence.

Media Content & Communication Services (MCCS) won a Gold for Satyamev Jayate-Promo in the Best News/Current Affairs Promo category. Television Eighteen India Ltd won Gold for its polio prevention programme.

Zee Telefilms Ltd bagged a Gold for Best Public Service Announcement for the Mumbai train blasts. Filmy won Golds for Best Movie Promo for ‘Hanuman’ and Best Comedy Promo for ‘Ek Lallan Anek Lallan’. Toon Disney India has won two Golds for Best Children’s Programme Promo for ‘Bhoot Power Rangers’ and Best Interstitial for ‘Bhoot Rap’.

IBN 7 received a Promax Asia Gold applauding the distinctive and innovative campaign for its anthem ‘Karna hai to Karna Hai’, which is a song of celebration, a symbol of unity, a mission in harmony and expresses the passion and zeal driving the channel. The anthem reflects the channel’s positioning statement ‘Khabar Har Keemat Par’, illustrating its desire to showcase news as it is, in true form.

MTV Networks India Pvt Ltd won three Golds and one Silver. The Golds came for Best Holiday / Seasonal Promo for MTV Style Awards, Best Editing for Vh1 at the movies and Best Sting for Vh1 at the movies sting.
