PM Modi's Allahabad rally coverage spikes Hindi News viewership by 44%

According to the BARC data for week 24 (11-17 June, 2016),the coverage of PM Modi’s Rally from Allahabad increased the viewership of the Hindi News genre by 44 per cent. The previous 4 weeks average impressions which stood at 869 impressions ‘000s rose to 1251 impressions ‘000s in week 24.

In the entertainment genre, the telecast of the first episode of ‘Splitsvilla 9’ on MTV took the evening slot up by 27 per cent. Also, three major sports tournaments - UEFA Euro 2016 France Live, Killer Cup 2016 and Copa America Centenario 2016 benefitted their respective channels hugely. UEFA Euro 2016 France Live took viewership up of Sony sports network by 5 times.

UEFA Euro 2016 France Live – took viewership up by 5 times for Sony Sports Network. The highest impressions were observed in the matches which were telecast at night (21:20-23:20). Among these matches, The match played between Czech Republic vs Croatia on Friday fetched 3,749 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 1,316 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The match between Ukraine vs Northern Islandon Thursday garnered 3,701 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 528 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. Also, the Romania vs Switzerland match on Wednesday fetched 3,346 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 484 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The Republic of Ireland vs Sweden match on Monday fetched 3,679 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 455 impressions ‘000s in week 23. Other matchs played at  Night- Poland vs Ireland on Sunday and Wales vs Slovakia fetched 2,908 impressions ‘000s and 2,720 impressions ‘000s respectively.

The second popular slot in the order was the Evening slot (18:20-20:20). The match played between England and Wales on Thursday fetched 3,472 impressions ‘000s which were 394 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The Austria vs Hungary match on Tuesday fetched 2,992 impressions ‘000s which were 414 impressions ‘000s in week 23. The match played between Italy and Sweden on Friday garnered 2,524 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 1,316 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The Spain vs Czech Republic match on Monday got 2,234 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 390 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The other two matches between Turkey vs Croatia on Sunday and Albania vs Switzerland on Saturday fetched 2,008 impressions ‘000s and 1,120 impressions ‘000s respcetovely in week 24.

The Mid-Night slot (24:20 – 02:30) fetched the least viewership among the three slots. The Portugal vs Iceland match on Tuesday fetched 1,020 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 140 impressions ‘000s in week 23. The England vs Russia match on Saturday garnered 786 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 61 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The match played between France vs Romania on Friday got 706 impressions ‘000s in week 24 which were 5 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The Germany vs Ukraine match on Sunday fetched 564 impressions ‘000s which had 41 impressions ‘000s in week 23. The Belgium vs Italy match on Monday got 715 impressions ‘000s versus 47 impressions ‘000s in the previous week. The other two matches- France vs Albania and Germany vs Poland garnered 398 impressions ‘000s and 411 impressions ‘000s respectively.

Killer Cup 2016 Live – Zimbabwe vs India fuelled rise in the impressions of channels like DD National, Ten 3, Ten 2 and Ten 1 HD. Match 1, the first ODI fetched an average of 4479 impressions ‘000s of all four channels. Match 2, the second ODI got an average of 4147 impressions ‘000s and for the third ODI on Wednesday, the channels got an average of 3399 impressions ‘000s.

Copa America Centenario 2016 benefitted the ratings of Sony ESPN. The match played between Argentina and Bolivia on Wednesday garnered 3,514 impressions ‘000s followed by the Argentina vs Panama match on Saturday which fetched 1,461 impressions. The quarter final match played between USA vs Ecuador on Friday fetched 1,255 impressions ‘000s. Next in order is the match between  Uruguay vs Jamaica on Tuesdaywhich got 1,140 impressions ‘000s.  Colombia vs Costa Rica on Sunday garnered 1,115 impressions ‘000s. The match between Mexico vs Venezuela on Tuesday got 438 impressions ‘000s followed by the Chile vs Panama match on Wednesday with 355 impressions ‘000s. The other two matches- USA vs Paraguay and Chile vs Bolivia fetched 194 impressions ‘000s and 146 impressions ‘000s respectively.

The telecast of the first episode of ‘Splitsvilla 9’ on MTV tookSaturday19:00 - 20:00 slot up by 27 per cent. The previous 4 weeks average of the slot was 334 impressions ‘000s which rose to 426 impressions ‘000s in week 24.
