PIX to take a peek into actors’ lives through ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’

They are the ones who make us laugh and cry through their screen portrayals. They are the ones who make several envious with their glamorous, glitter-sprinkled lifestyles. They generate reams of news pages. But what is an actor’s life really like? PIX, the English movie channel from Sony, is gearing up to give viewers an insight into the lives of Hollywood actors in a new show, ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’, to be aired from July 16.

‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’ will be a talk show, placed during the weekends.

Commenting on the new programme, Gitanjali Murari, Programming Head, PIX, said, “The show is a perfect brand fit with the channel positioning, ‘We tell stories’.”

Elaborating more on the show, Murari said, “Each episode of ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’ will highlight the life of a well known Hollywood actor, wherein the story of their acting profession will be given emphasis. The show will provide insights into their personal lives that influenced their professional decisions.”

The channel has chosen a weekend for the launch of the show with the view to grab more eyeballs as English movie channels get a higher viewership during the weekends.

The marketing activities surrounding the show will commence from the first week of July and will primarily focus on on-air and off-air promotions, including online and radio promotion, besides there will be cross channel promotions too. It may be noted here that PIX formed a strategic alliance recently with VH1 for cross channel promotions.

Speaking about the expectations from ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’ Murari said, “The show will delight viewers who wish to know more about the craft of an actor and how the actor approached a career defining role.”

PIX was launched in April this year and is now concentrating on getting its distribution right. The channel was gearing up to sort out its distribution problems by the end of this month, according to a senior channel official.
